Château Aigues Vives
Bought just before the 2010 harvest, Château Aigues Vives is situated in the Boutenac region which was recognized in 2003 as the best quality cru in Corbières.
The Château’s name, Aigues Vives, “aguaviva” is a reminder of the ancient Roman thermal springs. It is precisely the presence of the abundant groundwater that makes this terroir so suitable to the growing of vines. The winery has been recently renovated to provide all the modern techniques necessary for crafting great wines: grape receiving hopper, triple sorting table, climate-controlled barrel cellar, etc.
The vines are adjacent to those of Domaine de Villemajou, but it’s the difference in grape varieties that sets it apart. Chateau Aigues-Vives is predominantly planted with Syrah.

The Mediterranean grape varieties, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan flourish here and yield very complex wines with intense aromatic bouquets.
